Compared to her "survival of the fittest" worldview, Lann sees it as the strong's responsibility to care for the weak of the tribe (ie, selfishness vs selflessness). In the past, they were apparently intimate, but broke up when it became clear that she became too harsh and Lann was proving "too soft" to lead the neathers. His relationship with his fellow mongrel Wenduag is complicated. His loyalty to the crusade is so strong, he will stay with the Commander regardless of their choice of mythic path.

His issues of parental abandonment will continue to haunt him for the rest of his days unless the player helps him reconcile with his estranged mother. It is implied at several points that he uses this humor as a persona to hide how insecure he truly feels about his own short life, family issues, and the responsibilities he's taken up. He share stories about how harsh life is underground, usually with a humorous twist. He enjoys trading jabs with Daeran and Seelah, joking and generally acting like a fun and pleasant man. While around friends, Lann typically acts more laidback and casual. During council meetings, he typically advocates for decrees that are harsh to some, yet fair to the whole, a result of his growing up in a difficult environment where resources were scarce and sacrifices were often needed. With encouragement from both Sull and the player, he steps up as the new chieftain of the neathers, willing to lead his people to glory in the crusades. This seems to stem from a fear of responsibility, not wishing to be responsible for anything bad that may happen to his fellow neathers. He is fearless in the face of danger, knowing that mongrels live extremely short lives and is initially fine with dying a heroic death in battle like a "true crusader." But while he is unafraid of hunting and fighting, leadership seems to create a sense of genuine anxiety for him. When talking about his fellow neathers, he speaks with a great deal of confidence, proud of his heritage as a descendent of the first crusaders. Lann's personality is seemingly as divided as his body, between a fun, loyal, witty, and easygoing friend, and a strong, serious, warrior-leader. Support spells and an animal companion from Impossible Domain can make him a good buffer and still deal more damage than the party's default cleric, Sosiel. His high Wisdom allows Lann to also be a good ranged Cleric. At 7th and 10th level, his arrows will always count as Cold Iron/Silver and Lawful respectively, allowing him to bypass most damage reductions used by demons, since Zen Archer allows their arrows to count as unarmed strikes. With the right archery feats, Lann can easily deal with most threats in a few rounds. Lann's default class and build, Zen Archer Monk, already allows him to be one of the strongest physical damage dealers in the game.

A descendant of the first crusaders, a child of the caves beneath Kenabres, he followed his new leader up toward the light of the foreign sky. Lann the mongrelman is a curious sight even for the distorted land of the Worldwound.

Both begin specialized in archery, but Lann is the more loyal and valiant companion, usually making him the choice for more good-aligned players. He is one of two mutually exclusive party members a player can recruit in the caverns beneath Kenabres, the other being Wenduag. They all have their own Classes and equipment they begin with. Lann is a Companion in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Companions assist the player by joining his/her party and have their own backstories and unique characteristics.
